AstraOS boots on ARM64 up to the desktop

AstraOS now also starts on ARM64 in a virtual computer – up to the desktop, with USB keyboard and mouse.

AstraOS is built for two kinds of processors: x86-64 (most PCs) and ARM64 (many phones, tablets and newer laptops). On 3 November 2026 the ARM64 version booted to the desktop in a virtual ARM computer.

The same day USB keyboard and mouse worked on ARM, and programs started to run in their own protected space. On 4 November the devices are now found from the hardware description, and several processor cores are counted.

So far this is tested in a virtual computer, not on real ARM hardware. The ARM version is part of the plan for the alpha.
