AstraOSAstraOS: everything with the mouse, no terminal needed
Remove apps, run a virus scan, play sounds, shut down, copy and rename files – all with a few clicks.
On 5 November 2026 AstraOS got a simple rule: normal users never need the terminal. Settings now has an Apps page to remove apps, buttons for the virus scan, the firewall and a sound test. The start menu can shut the computer down.
In the Files app a right click copies, cuts, pastes, renames, creates folders and text files, deletes and scans files. Double-clicking a sound file plays it.
The terminal stays for developers and servers. Every step was tested in a virtual computer. Not there yet: keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+C, selecting several files and drag and drop.
